WEEK 34 - Friday 14 June 2024

Hello and welcome to this week’s Year 10 Blog.

This week has seen students taking part in a series of prize draws as part of a campaign led by our Active Travel Ambassadors group, who have been working with Modeshift, to improve the health and wellbeing of the school. The campaign, Hessle Feet First and Pedal Power Week, was designed to promote different ways of encouraging people to be more active in how they get to Hessle High School – walking, cycling or taking the bus.

Each day has focussed on a different activity and featured an array of prizes with raffle tickets being issued to each person taking part, giving every participant the chance to win.

The week has been a great success, with over 300 smoothies created using our bike-powered blender and a real buzz from students throughout each school day. Thursday saw one of our Year 10 students wheel away from school with a new bike – congratulations Charlie!

Year 10 Exams

Next week (Monday 17th June) sees the start of the Year 10 mock examinations. It is vital that students attend every day to complete a full set of exams, providing us with the most accurate information possible. The timetable for the first week consists of four exams, including maths, English and science, before a busier second week where there will be twelve exams in total. Students should use their personalised timetable to check which of these exams they will be involved in as well as their seat numbers for each exam.

The second week sees the continuation of exams in core subject exams alongside options subjects.

As with any exam, students will get out what they put in so hopefully they take this opportunity to show what they are genuinely capable of.
