Penshurst Primary School

WEEK 34 - Friday 14 June 2024

The final term is always so very busy with assessments and this week, we have been in the thick of it once again.

Following the SATs before half term, last week, our Year 4 multiplication checks were completed, and the children were all so confident and calm. This week, our Year 1 learners have been busy completing their Phonics Screening Check and they have all coped fantastically. The results are released in the next few weeks and I look forward to sharing these with you all.

Elsewhere in school this week, an array of activities have taken place. Our Year 5 learners visited Hessle High School for a computer workshop and a super time was had by all. We welcomed the parents of our September Reception cohort to an information evening and a tour around our Reception learning environment. On the field, our Year 5/6 girls football team played their final matches this week against Anlaby Acre Heads, and although they were defeated, all played incredibly well. Thankfully, rain didn’t stop play!

Last year, our Trust held their first ever Staff Awards to recognise the hard work and dedication that their employees demonstrate. If you remember, last year Mrs Adams, Miss Careless and Mrs Smith were the Penshurst winners. Last night, I am proud to inform you that Mrs Petch, Miss Dinsdale, Mrs Holmes and Mrs Maynard in the school office received awards for our school. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating them.

Next week, we are scheduled to host our annual sports days. I have everything crossed that this will be able to go ahead given the changeable weather. Should we be lucky enough to have nice weather, please remember to bring a chair or blanket to sit on, that your child will need suncream applied before they arrive in school and that there are no available toilets for parents as we still have learners around the building who are having their sports day at a different time. In case of poor weather, please do keep checking for notifications.

Another event that is dependent on decent weather is our annual Brake Walk, which is due to take part next week. Once again, please keep your eyes peeled for notifications, and if you are able, please come and support our learners on the streets. Thanks for your continued support.

Whatever the weather, and whatever you have planned, I hope you have a super weekend and will see you all on Monday!
