Penshurst Primary School

WEEK 36 - Friday 28 June 2024

This week, our fantastic Year 6 learners embarked upon their annual residential trip to PGL Caythorpe Court. When I first started working at Penshurst in 2014, I attended the residential as a Year 6 teacher. A lot has changed since then and when I was lucky enough to visit them on Tuesday, I was bowled over by how impressive the place, the staff, the activities and most importantly, our learners, were.

On one of the hottest days of the year (so far at least!), our learners completed a raft of exciting activities such as climbing, zip-wiring (is that even a word?), canoeing, fencing, problem solving and much more. The energy of the PGL staff was unwavering and there was no opportunity for our learners to be bored! Year 6 behaved impeccably (the clocks in the tents were apparently a huge success – try it at home, parents) and represented the school beautifully. I could not be prouder! Head over to X to see what your children got up to!

It would be remiss of me not to thank our wonderful staff who gave up their time to escort Year 6 on the trip, which could not have taken place if they had not volunteered. Thanks too to Mrs Whitaker and the team for the meticulous organisation! I look forward to attending again next year!

The other year groups have continued their exciting learning journeys in the absence of Year 6 this week. On X, you will be able to browse a range of activities, including Year 2 building tall structures in DT, Year 4 exploring figure and form in Art, and Gardening Club getting excited about their crops!

Next week, please come along and support our PFA Summer Fair on Wednesday. The increasingly popular ‘Gunge the Teacher’ will once again take place so make sure you stick around!

Enjoy the last of the sun this weekend, and I look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
